Citizens Police Academy
The Citizens Police Academy is a ten-week program which educates the public to the inner workings of the police department.
Beginning in September, the academy meets for two hours every Tuesday and Thursday evening. There is no experience required, and the academy is free and open to all Lehigh Valley residents over the age of 18. The program is instructed by Whitehall police officers and personnel who cover the following topics:
- Introduction and Tour of the Police Station
- Employment Practices
- Patrol Functions
- Criminal Investigation
- Community Policing / Crime Watch
- DARE/School Resource
- Defensive Tactics / Use of Force
- Drug Enforcement
- Auto Task Force
- Driving Under the Influence
- Homeland Security / Terrorism
- Court System / District Attorney
- Emergency Response Team
- Crash Investigation
- Gun Range
- K-9
